You should end up with a folder called "Def Leppard". - In the "Themes" folder, there will be a file called "Def Leppard.theme". Double-clicking on that file will install the Def Leppard Theme and change the current settings for icons, cursors, sounds, etc. - There is also a dedicated theme for WindowsXP that takes advantage of features available only on WindowsXP. For Microsoft Plus! - Unzip files to a directory of your choice - The zip file is set to extract to a directory called Def Leppard. The preferred location for this directory is under c:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes - Double-click the Def Leppard.theme file to set up - You might need to manually move the screen saver "dllaser.scr" file into your \windows\system directory for it to work correctly. For Windows 95 without Plus! - Unzip files to a directory of your choice - Under Control Panel | Mouse, change each pointer to the appropriate one from the archive. The names will be similar to and indicative of their function. - Choose Scheme and save as Def Leppard - Under Control Panel | Sounds, change each sound to the appropriate one from the archive. The names will be similar to their function. - Choose Scheme and save as Def Leppard - Using a graphics viewer, change the 'Def Leppard Wallpaper.jpg' to a BMP file and resize it to fit your desktop size. Make sure that you keep the aspect ratio constant. Move the new 'Def Leppard Wallpaper.bmp' file to your \Windows directory. Right click on the Desktop, choose Properties. Under Wall- paper, pick Def Leppard and center it. - Move the dllaser.scr file to your \Windows\System directory. Right click on the Desktop, choose Properties, select Screen Saver and pick Dllaser. Set-up screen saver preferences. To change the shutdown/startup screens (Windows 95/98 only): 1) RENAME \Windows\Logow.sys to \Windows\LogowArchive.sys 2) RENAME \Windows\Logos.sys to \Windows\LogosArchive.sys This option (#2) is not yet available. 3) RENAME c:\Logo.sys to LogoArchive.sys If it doesn't exist, skip this step and go to 4) 4) move or copy this archive's logow.sys to your \windows dir 5) move or copy this archive's logos.sys to your \windows dir This option is not yet available 6) move or copy logo.sys to your root (c:\) directory. This replaces the Windows95 start up screen. DO NOT OVERWRITE THE ORIGINAL LOGOS IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE BACK LATER! For Windows 3.11 or lower - Follow the same procedures as for Windows 95 without Plus! with the following changes: 1) Cursor and sound names will have a name such as 'deflep~1.cur' or 'deflep~2.wav'. To place each one with its appropriate action, you must use its picture or sound to determine its function. 2) 'Def Leppard.bmp' is now 'defleppa.bmp', and after placing in the /Windows directory, pick it from Contro Panel | Desktop 3) The screen saver is picked in the same manner, though it did not change name. 4) Since there are no shutdown screens on Win 3.11, the logow.sys and logos.sys files are useless. A final note: I have not had a chance to try this out with Windows 3.11, so I cannot make any guarantees that it will work on such platforms or that the instructions for it are correct. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ END
