No hard rock band has had more mainstream commercial success, so everyone on the hill (from the foggy top to the muddy bottom) was dancing and shouting choruses to all of the songs until 1 am. The band mixed newer songs in with the classics and gave the fans and extra-large dose of songs form their multi-platinum smash, 'Hysteria'. The British band showed no signs of rust, giving a polished performance that made it hard to believe it was the opening night of the'Euphoria' tour. Anyone who counts Def Leppard out of today's music scene doesn't understand the history of this band. They have endured an unthinkable series of setbacks but ahve always found a way to bounce back. Their new single Promises has received heavy radio play, and Euphoria already has gone gold. Def Leppard and Motley Crue, combined with and early strong performance by the Scorpions, added up to the best night of music this reviewer has seen at Rock Fest in seven trips."
