Last week, Mr Savage and a company named Cathrish Ltd were ordered under a temporary injunction not to dispose of his property at Strawberry Hill House, Vico Road, Dalkey, with an estimated value of £3.5 million. They were also restrained from reducing their assets below £350,000. The orders were granted to Mr Robert Frewen, East 79th Street, New York, and his wife, Helen, who also own property at Strawberry Hill and who have already taken proceedings over their claim that water has been percolating into their house from Mr Savage's house overhead. In an affidavit Mr Frewen said that following a report Mr Savage was leaving the jurisdiction, he was increasingly apprehensive he would be unable to recover loss of income, architect's and engineer's fees, building costs incurred because of water damage and legal costs amounting to not less than £300,000. A lawyer for Mr Savage said his client had not the slightest intention of dissipating his assets or of frustrating any judgment that might be obtained. The case would be hotly disputed. Mr Justice Lavan said he required an affidavit from Mr Savage setting out his intentions for the Dublin property. He adjourned the case until today with the injunctions continuing. © 2001 ireland.com
