It's only half a page and includes an old photo of Joe. DEF LEPPARD No More Let's Get ROcked The Sheffield stars get serious with moody new Studio LP! Plus Joe Elliott gives Mayhem an exclusive rundown of their hot new tracks! Def Leppard are set to release 2 albums inside the next 10 months! The first, a greatest hits collection entitled "Vault" is out on Oct 16. IT includes all of the band's biggest UK hits plus the new single WLAHC. And Vault will be followed next Summer by a brand new Leppard Studio Album Slang. The quintet are currently recording Slang in a house in Spain with producer Pete Woodroffe. Leppard singer Joe Elliott reveals:"We're as excited as hell about Slang. It's different, but we haven't gone weird! It's a very positive move. It's got a bit of a '70's vibe. The house in Spain has got marble floors so the sound has a lot of 'slap!'. It's very organic and a little more mature, more serious. I'm not saying it's all doom and gloom, but I can't be 17 forever. I'm 36, Joe admits, I can't write another Let's Ge Rocked. But we do what we do. We don't make records to please a Green Day fan!" Slang is sheduled for release in the Spring of 1996. "But hey", Joe laughs, "You know us!". Joe Elliott's guide to Slang PEARL OF EUPHORIA It's slow, loping, heavy, and very cool. SLANG Groovy, danceable, a bit like the Rolling Stones. WORK IT OUT It's the first thing that VIV has written for the group. I'm doing my Iggy Pop impersonation on it! ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING I know Bon Jovi have a song with the same title, but hell, Pearl Jam had a song called Animal after us! The song is kinda-U"ish. WHERE DOES LOVE GO WHEN IT DIES Bizarre, Ethereal. It's accoustic with me preaching to the world! Probably the best lyric I've written. BLOOD RUNS COLD NOt a ballard, but slow like Pink Floyd. It's about the kinda things that killed Steve. BREATHE A SIGH It's BOyz II Men meets U2! Adds Joe, "These are all contenders for the album, but one or two might get dropped and a bunch more will be added" Copyright of above info does belong to Kerrang! So, the article contradicts itself on the release date for Slang quoting both Spring and Summer 1996. Joe's comments make me wonder if even Summer is optomistic. They definately DON'T seem to be mixing yet. But if they are still recording why is VIV recording on his own? Is there "Trouble at mill" as Joe would say? Carole Carole_Benson@wilton.ici.co.uk
