Def Leppard has just finished recording 16 new tracks in a Spanish villa, for the group's first studio album in 3 years. "Slang" marks the first time the band has worked without longtime producer Mutt Lange in over a decade. Instead, Leppard's enlisted Pete Woodroffe, who co-produced the band's "Retroactive" compilation of b-sides and unreleased material two years ago. On "Slang," drummer Rick Allen has gone back to a regular acoustic drum kit, rather than the partially electronic one he's used since the car crash that cost him his left arm over ten years ago. Def Leppard begins mixing "Slang" in Los Angeles next month; look for it sometime this fall.
