Monday, May 24, 1999 Music365 DEF LEPPARD TAKE DAMON HILL FOR A SPIN DEF LEPPARD's ninth album 'Euphoria' features a guest spot from British racing driver DAMON HILL - on guitar. The Formula One ace contributes the ending guitar solo to the album's opening track 'Demolition Man'. Def Leppard singer JOE ELLIOTT has described Hill's recording debut as "a cross between the way Slash (GN'R) plays and Andy McCoy from Hanoi Rocks". Hill's invitation to appear on the platinum-selling Sheffield band's first album in three years came about after he found himself a near neighbour to members of Def Leppard living in Dublin. The city is popular with high- earning entertainment and sports celebrities because of the lenient Irish tax system. Previously, Damon Hill has taken his guitar-playing public at charity TV and concert events alongside other 'musical' sportsmen such as tennis stars Pat Cash and John McEnroe. 'Euphoria' also sees the return of Leppard's former producer MUTT LANGE. Although the new album is produced by PETE WOODROFFE and the band, Lange was asked to "inject some of his magic" into three of the new tracks and is credited as co-writer on the three songs including the first single 'Promises'. The full track-listing on 'Euphoria' is: 'Demolition Man', 'Promises', 'Back In Your Face', 'Goodbye', 'All Night', 'Paper Sun', 'It's Only Love', '21st Century', 'To Be Alive', 'Disintegrate', 'Guilty', 'Day After Day' and 'Kings Of Oblivion'. The album is released on June 14 on Bludgeon Riffola records through Mercury. The name and overall content are copyright © 1998, 1999 Direct Network Publishing plc, and all rights are reserved.
