Not since Deep Purple, Motorhead and Blue Cheer has there been a catchy, albeit headbanging, kick-butt recording that'll make all the ponytails shake, rattle and rawk. Lyric significance? Come on! Who needs that when you can Rock Hard, Drink and Rock, do The Jilt and know that Too Much is Never Enough? For this Massachusetts trio, vocally led by Matt "Lemme be Lemmy" Pierce, life is about sex, drugs, cussing and rock 'n' roll, with all the amps turned up to 11 and nary a love song in sight. Oops, sorry. Forgot about the chilling Cocaine Whore, a piano-and-tambourine softie recorded in such lo-fi glory it straddles that fine line between -- get ready Spinal Tap fans -- clever and stupidity. Give 'em a bit of credit, though. They do add more oomph to Billy Squier's Everybody Wants You that puts the original six feet under.
