http://www.timesleader.com/mld/timesleader/entertainment/14918586.htm Posted on Wed, Jun. 28, 2006 Def Leppard/Journey set for night at Montage By Christie Jones Weekender Correspondent Only six months after Def Leppard wrapped up its 2005 co-headlining tour with Bryan Adams, the band is hitting the road again. This summer, Lep has chosen to do another co-headlining road jaunt, though this time with prominent '70s and '80s arena rock band, Journey. And according to Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, both Def Leppard and Journey want to "give the fans and taste of old and new." After more than two decades of delivering power ballads and stimulating hard-rock hits, Def Leppard has proven to be rock and roll legends. With 11 award-winning, chart-topping albums and over 65 million albums sold worldwide, the band could possibly be defined as the epitome of rock music. And with the recent release of their all-covers album, "Yeah," these infamous '80s rockers are getting back to basics. Said Joe Elliot in a press release: "I thought it was about time we showed the world what our true roots were. The songs on this album are at least partly responsible for us making the kind of music that we do." Campbell, in a recent phone interview, says this year's concert tour is looking to be better than ever. "We're definitely upping the ante with our lighting and video presentation and taking more of a production approach this time," he says. "The biggest challenge with this tour for both Journey and us is trying to figure out what not to play. People wanna hear our old stuff, but at the same time we want to feature our new stuff that a lot of fans possibly never even heard. It's hard to fit all of that in." Campbell, who also played with Whitesnake in the late '80s, also added, "With past tours we used to start off the show by playing the entire first side of the 'High and Dry' album. That was tough for fans that only know the 'Hysteria' album and forward, because a good number of them couldn't really relate to the 'High and Dry' album. We've definitely learned a lot of lessons." With well known hits like, "Who's Crying Now," "Don't Stop Believin'," and "Open Arms," Journey has sold over 75 million albums worldwide and are the 29th best-selling music group of all time. "I'm looking forward to getting out there and kickin' ass. We're glad that our fans are excited about this tour, and I think both Journey and Def Leppard will gain some new fans. I'm especially looking forward to playing guitar with my good buddy Vivian Campbell," said Journey guitarist Neal Schon in a press release. During this show, fans can expect to hear Def Leppard's memorable hits such as, "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "Love Bites," and "Photograph," as well as some unexpected titles. Campbell said that even though the "Yeah" album is all covers, "everything definitely sounds Def Leppard."
