Def Leppard holds its spot

Listening to Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott talk is like absorbing a solo by
the band's longtime guitarist, Phil Collen.

Both have rapid-fire agility, a sense of purpose and relentless enthusiasm.

"Some people think it's tragic that I love what I do so much," Elliott fires off in a phone interview two days before the start of a tour that brings the veteran British pop-metal rockers to Rupp Arena for the first time in nearly 11 years. "I mean, what's the problem with that? It's the most awesome thing in the world to be a singer in a rock 'n' roll band. It doesn't get any better than this. I love it. I love it to death."
